A rare day out
Things are gradually moving back to normal, although a new normal, I guess, although in Scotland we still have quite a lot of restrictions.
Today we ventured on to a service bus for the first time in over two years.
The reason was that our granddaughter had given us a gift at Christmas of an afternoon tea for two in the Merchant City in Glasgow, and so last week I made a booking for today.
As I said, we took a bus into the city, rather than the train, as it would drop us nearer to the Merchant City, and give us a bit more time for a wander.
We found Mharsanta, the restaurant, with no difficulty and had a lovely time, with delicious food. I forgot to blip the food when it arrived, so have uploaded an extra of the cake stand with very little left over. We had some lovely sandwiches of three different types, then some scones with jam and cream, some chocolate cake and also cranachan. It was all delicious.
Afterwards we had a bit of a wander around Merchant Square before setting off for home on the bus. I enjoyed the ride, which took us past the street where I was born, although the building has gone now (can't understand why they haven't put up a plaque). However, the church we attended is still there and is still used for worship.
Sadly the weather was not too nice for our venture, dull and wet, what else!
I have uploaded some extras of the city.
