Oops...the photos I took earlier in the garden, featuring two rows of sprouting garlic, seem to have vanished. Maybe the voles took them - they've been problematic the past couple years. In any event, I was pleased to see the sprouts though I shouldn't have been surprised - they are bulbs, after all. 

Spent a good long time pruning two large rose bushes this afternoon. It feels like sculpting. When I close my eyes, I see rose canes. I think I cut back more than last year, but I think that every year and they still grow like crazy - unlike the other roses that I like better and that need to be persuaded.
