Chimneys, Sydney Park
These chimneys flued the exhaust of the brick kilns which, until 1970, operated on the site of Sydney Park. Being so tall, they are a major landmark in the area. They are visible from kilometres around, providing a navigation aid for motorists including me, before the joys of SatNav.
Being built in around 1893 with the commencement of the brickworks, the chimneys have required ongoing maintenance and stabilisation. Their heritage status will ensure their continuation as south Sydney landmarks.
Thanks for hosting Jenny. Stay dry and warm.
