A wonderful bird is the pelican...

... or not. I suppose they are, with that enormous beak that can hold so much. Like ducklings, cygnets and baby coots.

While I don't love them I acknowledge their place in the balance of nature, but Sydney Park is a small ecosystem and I worry that the pelicans have it too easy looking for food here.

I waited until the end of the day, when the sun was not so garish, to take this photo. It was nice light, worth waiting for, but I'll be glad when it happens before dinner time.
