Chartwell reflections
A tour of some of the National Trust properties and sites in West Kent saw us start our walk at Toy’s Hill near Sevenoaks.
A series of small navigation errors later we came upon Emmett’s Garden in time for lunch, scone and coffee. A popular place this sunny weekend with many families enjoying the gardens and open space. The gardens really do have a fabulous aspect with many early spring flowers we’re to be seen.
From Emmett’s we walked to Churchill’s place at Chartwell where where again many people were taking advantage of the lovely weather.
To complete the walk we tackled the steep ascent of Puddledock Lane to Toy’s Hill village which stands on a prominent ridge looking south over the Weald. The views from the houses that line the road were stupendous, worth millions.
Another final steep ascent brought us back to Toy’s Hill carpark 6.5 miles later. Home made fish snd chips tonight. All smartly dressed and brushed up ready for the aperitifs.
This shot is across the lake at Chartwell, beating a couple of others I liked from Emmett’s.
