This old cemetery in Nelson, NZ, was opened in 1861. It covers an area of 14 hectares - on the side of a hill with the most amazing views over Nelson Haven. Views can be seen in the collage I have added as an extra.

Since 1861 there have been 16,000 people buried in this cemetery, the first recorded burial was a 16 month child. The cemetery is now closed  other than those with pre-purchased family plots.

I was intrigued with these elaborate headstones featured as my main blip - the only ones I have seen in this cemetery like this.
