Welcome To….

….The Twilight Zone!!
Mrs S and I were up, showered, dressed, breakfasted, car packed and away by 9:50am. In still strong winds that buffeted my little VW Polo we headed north east towards Buckinghamshire. As always our first stop was Taunton Dean Services for coffee & cake before continuing on. Second stop was Bicester, coffee only this time and we arrived at Woburn around 4pm.
Longs Inn, described as a 17th century coaching inn was to be our base for the next couple of days. We unpacked and went for a walk, everything seemed closed but we found a store for a sandwich and cold drink before heading back to change and get ready for dinner.
Disappointed to find that the Longs Inn restaurant was closed we headed out to find dinner. Strange place Woburn, I know it only has a population of around 1,000 and is quite possibly a seasonal village but aside from the lit area in today’s main photograph it was dark and deserted. We enjoyed a great dinner and headed back for a beer before bed only to find that the pub had closed at 9pm.
It gave us the excuse for an early night ready for a big day tomorrow.
