SPhotography-One Year V2

Being 98...

Day to go home.... or head in that direction anyway.

After packing, having a tea with Mum, having a cuppa with our neighbour, we left Falkirk a few hours later than we planned and headed down the A roads to Sunderland. It has been a good 15 + years since visiting Sunderland via that route and I always remember Dad driving that way and stopping at Jedburgh. Really wanted to visit again as couldn't remember exactly what it looked like, but knew I would love to see it and show it to Steve as well. When we eventually got there after stopping every half an hour to stop and take pictures (blog to follow!) of the breathtaking Scotland scenery, we stopped for some lunch and took more pictures of Jedburgh. It had not changed at all and was just like I remembered it. A spot of late lunch and then we went onto Sunderland.

For some reason the satnav got lost and took us up Grans old road where she used to live. It was a strange moment standing outside her house knowing that she wasn't there anymore - looked exactly the same. I didn't think I would ever see it again. We popped into Grans neighbour to say a quick hello, it was great to see them too after a few years, so welcoming and they never change.

Eventually got round to grans home and prepared myself for seeing her. She is 98 now and I have not seen her for a good 3 years. Apart from being as deaf as a post, she was as bright as a button! We chatted for a little while as I took pictures of her on the new camera. The funniest part was when we were leaving - she was settling in front of the tv in the large lounge area. As we left, I peered around the window and waved. Her face was just a picture - shock - laughter and waved back. She must have forgotten that we had been in there less than 5 minutes before! Funny. This is one of the images that I took of Gran today.

After Sunderland came Leeds to visit my Aunt (Gran's daughter) and my little cousin. They have moved recently so was a treat to see the new house. We sat and talked for hours over a bottle of wine and a chinese takeaway, perfect way to finish the break away!
