Language Barrier
James and Maxime - the long expectant pen pals - finally got to meet today. After a wander round the market in the rain and another trip to the bakery to buy far too many cakes again (but aren't they beautfiul!) the boys went to the swimming pool. I'm not sure how they communicated but somehow they seem to have made it work because they both had a great time. Mum and I wandered round town, stumbling across an art exhibition. We later bumped into Ludovic and Elsa and went for afternoon tea at theirs. I enjoyed being translator. Veronique came to pick us up at 6.30 and we had dinner at hers which was lovely. Felt bad for Veronique's husband who didn't speak English - I was never sure whether to translate or not. I'd have liked to have talked to him more, he seemed interesting. A strange mix of English and French that left me starting a sentence in one language and finishing it in another.
