Eunice

Not the expected image of Storm Eunice as trees bent and branches flew but once the power went out at about 9.30am I had to come back into the house and so sat by the window to read.  I’d taken the hellebores off the table so they didn’t blow away and was amazed to see this bumble bee working the flowers.  I knew that hellebores attracted them thought most living things would be lying low in the storm.  But in fact even the bird feeders were well attended all day as they swung wildly too and fro.

V set up our portable gas cooker in the barn and we had soup for lunch.  Then on getting a text saying power would be out overnight he went into Petersfield for hurricane lamp and came back somewhat over-equipped.

In fact the power came back on for us shortly after another text warning of further outages but it is still out in various pockets locally.   Woody and I managed a walk as dusk fell but kept largely away from the woods.  However I could see many trees down along one of the sunken lanes, mainly dying ash from what I could see but one huge oak branch had fallen.  .
