Birthday Boy

Our good friend, Cecílio had his birthday yesterday, and today was the celebration lunch - at his house and all made by him, including this huge marble cake. In the photo are his sister-in-law and parents-in-law, and a nephew.

You can see some of the starters on Mike's Blip. Then a bacalhau course (my favourite, with prawns and spinach) and carne alentejana (cubed pork, potatoes and clams). In typical fashion, the meal lasted hours, and the conversation really got going over the liqueurs and spirits at the end. We were zombies after (and the reason I forgot my camera, so yet another phone snap, such a shame), and were the first to leave, at about six...

Which was really too late for a nap, so we're powering on until late enough to go to bed. Tomorrow is another big lunch out. Brazilian yesterday, Portuguese today, expat mixture tomorrow, all very different, including the languages!

Gratefuls:
- Cecílio, he's been such a (cheerful) gift to us
- being included in this family, feels a real privilege
- our support group Zoom this morning, so fun and so encouraging, saints everyone
