This magnificent pool is part of the new Savoy Palace hotel. It’s just behind our Royal Savoy and it’s part of the same large company.
You’ve seen my blips of our beautiful pools, close to the sea. I have a couple of swims every day in these. I have an early morning swim, when it’s very quiet (we’ll, only me and the early shift of the outdoor team at that time, as it’s beginning to get light). I often have a later afternoon swim, to ease away aches and pains from the day’s exertions.
The Savoy Palace is enormous. It’s flash. It’s a bit Dubai and footballers’ wives….. We’re allowed up on the top floor where there’s a bar and a stunning view. They make it difficult for us. (Last time reception made me and my friend wait while they rang “to check capacity”. When they let us up there was only one group in there! Service is slow : the staff seem just to chat, pose and do things with their computerised system). There’s an amazing infinity pool there too.
We aren’t allowed in the Savoy Palace pools. I’m not really bothered. In fact, I’m pleased if it means that their numerous residents are not allowed in our smaller ones.
But I would like to swim in the big pool I’ve blipped today. Well, just once. I’d love to try it.
Actually, I’ve never seen anyone in their pool when I’ve been past……….
