Graham Sutherland
Having frozen on the beach at Cleethorpes, I went to see an exhibition of Graham Sutherland's art at Abbey Walk Gallery in Grimsby. It was amazingly colourful. Graham Sutherland lived from 1903 -1980 and is probably best known for his design of the tapestry at Coventry Cathedral. He was an official war artist during WW2 . The exhibition portrayed amongst other things with religious significance, the inherent strangeness of natural forms often giving them a surreal appearance eg animals, trees and thorns.
