My New Favorite Duck....

....the American Widgeon.

I had not seen one of these until my trip to Cambridge Maryland a couple of weeks ago so when I went back today with Wendy for an adventure at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, I was determined to get more shots.

I have included a couple of more in the extras that show the beautiful green feathers around the eye.  Definitely the cutest duck in the water. 

We also saw the snowy owl in the morning, but it had perched itself in a place that wasn't very visible and when we went back in the late afternoon it hadn't moved from that spot.  

We left quite early, and got home after dark so I am very ready to hit the sack.
