Rain,rain,go to Spain.....
One of those days again.
Kev on mucking out a cattle court and hauling the dung down the road to some of the stubble fields. We will need to try and get as much dung down there as we can this year so it can be spread then ploughed in ready to sow the barley in March/April as the price of fertiliser is still through the roof!
Of course as soon as he had the cows and calves shut outside it started tipping it down.
It was too wet to spread the slurry I stirred yesterday,so spent the afternoon hauling some of it up to the slurry store.
There were another couple of torrential downpours again, but in between I managed to get up onto a shed roof with a pack of fixings and bolt down all the loose sheets before the storm, that is now raging ,hit us ,as forecast ,at 4pm.
The shed was build in the early 1970s when corrogated tin sheets were a lot thicker than the rubbish you get now,so it was safe enough walking about on them. The hammer in fixings on a lot of them had rusted off though so I replaced as many as I could with 5 inch self drilling ones. Hopefully that should keep things in place !
This was the rain guage when I emptied it at 5 pm, 3/4 of an inch since this morning. A lot more since then I would think.
Roll on summer .....
