Minerva as the Spirit of Trinity Centre, Leeds
Based on Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom, poetry, medicine, commerce, weaving and crafts, this statue stands approximately eight metres high at the Briggate entrance to the new Trinity Centre shopping complex in Leeds. With what represents cloth, probably symbolising wool, gracefully draped over her, she reflects the city's rich heritage of cloth production, wool being the dominant industry on which the city's prosperity was based.
