Ruby Afternoon Tea

I've felt a lot better today, which was good as it is our anniversary. 40 years!

We didn't book anywhere for lunch or dinner as we weren't sure whether I would be up to it, so we compromised and had booked an afternoon tea at the Fowey Hotel which is only 5 minutes walk away. It was a good idea. We had the prosecco version, and really enjoyed it. I thought it would be busy judging by the on line booking availability, but in the event we seemed to be the only partakers. Apart from a couple having a late lunch we were the only customers in the restaurant.

We had a lazy morning opening cards, and enjoyed opening a selection box of delights from daughter#2, mainly chocolate treats which she had been collecting for a while with our anniversary in mind. The balloons in the main blip were from daughter#1. We had video calls with both daughters this morning as well. It was good to see that the grandsons are looking well. Joe has now tested negative, but Rory is still very positive. He has been complaining about getting it at half term rather than in school time!

Mrsfb bought me a surprise present, a personalised glass mug which will no doubt be featuring in a future blip. She will be getting a ruby ring when we get home.

Question from mrsfb: what do you remember most about the day?
Me: your dad sitting on your veil and ripping it, the church choir not turning up, the honeymoon suite hotel room we'd booked not being available, the explanation being someone had died in the room the night before (!), the free bottle of champagne as compensation .....
