The Birth Table
The Hunter Brothers, known as the fathers of modern medicine, and for whom Glasgow University's Hunterian Museum is named, were both born in East Kilbride in the early part of the eighteenth century. The house still stands, and has been a museum for a number of years. It has recently been taken over by the nearby Baptist Church, and they have installed a rather nice coffee shop there, as well as upkeeping the house.
'The Birth Table' by Keith Donnelly, is a sculpture to reflect the birth of modern medicine, and commemorates the opening of the house some years ago as a museum.
