Leeds..

Corinthian and I set off on a recce today to see if the walk we do from Kirkstall to Leeds could be slightly amended.  We started off by travelling into Leeds, but unfortunately with the fast approach roads there were no bus stops on our route in the vicinity of the canal. We walked to the station and then through the arches towards Granary Wharf. Renovation works had blocked access to the river walk, so off back to the road, finally making it to the river lock.  We crossed over and finally got to the canal, where there was a familiar face walking towards us - my grandson F, who was there to complete one of his ‘A’ Level Geography assignments.  Think he was amused that we were a bit lost, but I think he expects it of me!  :-)). Moving on we found the road where our bus had come in, but it confirmed that there were no bus stops in the area, so not really viable for our plans.  Returned to the centre and had an interesting lunch of “La Haine” in the lovely Corn Exchange - spicy, but not in a hot way. No bacon sandwiches for the bus pass walkers though!  Collage of the colours in the arches, old and new buildings side by side, the lunch menu, The Bourse (one of my favourite sets of buildings) and a sign which amused me in an office window.  A bit chilly, but an interesting outing, and around 11,000 steps walked just by getting lost!  Home just after 3pm, then a quick change and a hot coffee, then off to the local to meet friends.
