Hail
Fortunately, I saw it coming and delayed going out until the shower passed through - not that I knew it was going to be hail until I heard the windows being battered. I was reminded of the Penyghent Fell Race one year, when a vicious hailstorm caught the field by surprise on a summer's day. By the time we finished the sun was out, evidence of the storm's ferocity only left on the arms and legs of those runners who hadn't sought shelter behind a wall. That was most of them, it being a race, of course! It was like there'd been a mass outbreak of chicken pox!
