Lost in the Woods

I took a run to Fewston to join E for a walk around the reservoir. I made the mistake of wearing my Goretex-lined running shoes. It all started well with toasty dry feet, but then I went off-piste and discovered as much boggy and generally wet ground as I've seen in a very long while. My shoes filled with icy water and the Goretex served to keep it inside for the next couple of hours. The cold addled my brain and I then, in the thick fog, misplaced the entrance to Timble Woods. It wasn't a good idea to try taking another off-piste shortcut. It was a relief to finally emerge and have some tarmac to run on.

And it's now started raining again.
