More home: the bathing deck

Follow the paving slabs up the path, turn the corner to the right and you come to the first extra. If you’re very lucky you might see the second extra.

On the left of the main picture are the steps up to the truck deck and the red door. On the right is the modesty screen around the bathing area and the dog kennel (which has barely been used).

There are two baths: one is under its wooden cover. They are plumbed in, so I can pour hot water directly into them. The tap twizzles, so both baths can be filled.

The view from a prone position is of the gorse-covered hill immediately behind the property and a lone macrocarpa which grows on the boundary.

This isn’t the only way of washing. There is a shower in the bathroom in the truck which is used much more often than the bath.

It’s been a good kitchen day: I’ve made a huge veg lasagne, a variation on Yottam Ottolenghi’s Corsican pie, a batch of veg pasta sauce, and raspberry syrup; all of which are divided up and already in the freezer. Winter treats.
