Back to the Gardens ...
... the Botanic Gardens, that is. In Canberra. The main photo is Banksia burdettii which grows naturally on the sand plains north of Perth in Western Australia. Here it is growing well in the newly-created Banksia Garden in Canberra, 4,000 km away from it's place of origin.
Also from the west, and flowering well in Canberra, is the Kangaroo Paw cultivar 'Bush Noon' - extra 1.
A Canberra native bird, the Crimson Rosella (extra 2), is common in the Botanic Gardens and in the high country of south-eastern Australia.
