Spring Usher

When my mothing friend Graham contacted me this morning to say he had several Spring Ushers in his trap I was completely delighted as it is a moth I have never seen before.
It was smaller than I thought, but feisty little things flying at this time of year. It is a fairly common species, with only the males able to fly, the females are wingless and climb up trees to attract the males, who fly weakly to find them.
While I was at Grahams I also took the opportunity to release my Goat  Moth, I know he won't find a mate this time of year, but he will live out his life enjoying freedom.
