Morning catch

We were taken out on the boats at sunrise to see some wildlife, including hippos, crocodiles and the fish eagle. The sunrise was beautiful and I was very tempted to upload one of those photos but I've chosen this picture of the fish eagle coming in for a catch. There was local fishermen on the lake who we bought fish off in order to attract the fish eagle and as we lined the boats up to watch, the men would whistle for the eagle and throw the fish into the water for it to come and get. It was a magnificent sight and the bird is really amazing. I was so pleased to, after several attempts around the lake, manage a photo of it catching!

In the afternoon we also went on a nature walk around the Baringo area and up to the Great Rift where we saw black and brown scorpions (had them on our faces, tongues...) and carpet vipers as well as other animals and plants in the area. It was nice to get out and see the area but it was extremely hot, despite being late in the afternoon. It was obvious we hadn't acclimatised much yet, even though between the sunrise boat trip and the nature walk we did nothing and just lazed in the bar!
