Glossy Ibis and Pretty Dereliction
The Glossy Ibis (Plegadis Falcinellus) certainly lives up to its name in a bit of sunlight. In blank light it looks mostly black but, like the under-rated pigeon, when the Sun strikes its feathers the full colour emerges.
This one has been seen over recent weeks, hunting along the boggy field margins near Slimbridge. I'm no birder, but from the neck plumage I'd guess it was a juvenile?
The extra is one I took in Cheddar the other day and didn't lead with. I really liked the pretty pastels and shiny metal windows at the rear of the closed down Cox's Mill Hotel. Dereliction can be pretty too... DS283
