Time for a Tertulia

We were invited to a tertulia tonight at a new friend, Isabel's (that's her coming through the doorway). Wasn't quite sure what it would be, but it's apparently "a social gathering with literary or artistic overtones". I've watched the progress of her doing up one of the old (several hundred years) houses on the way up to the castle, adding on a second storey. That's where she lives, and the old ground floor she wants to use as a gallery for painters. She's done such a beautiful job that I was almost more taken with her "still lifes" than with the actual paintings.

They were by a local guy, who was absolutely charming, and spent ages explaining to us the process of how he paints, and his inspirations, one of which is Federico García Lorca, the Spanish poet. There were some friendly Spaniards from over the border there as well. Isabel did a lovely job of the refreshments - mulled wine, as well as champagne, and interesting nibbles.

Gratefuls:
- a spontaneously different evening from what we were expecting
- getting to the market this morning after quite a while not making it
- testing negative again, I've got such a painful throat...
