Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

A noteworthy day

Storm Corrie did not eventuate in the city, though once again Aberdeenshire had it bad, with many people still without power this evening.

My day began well with the arrival of my replacement Bus Pass. Yay!

JR went off to her gym session, and then went to use up my unused-but-paid-for BodyStreet sessions (she LOVED it!) Archie and I went out for a walk and we met Maggie and her dad. Maggie did not accept a wee treat - she was off her food and eating grass. Although she came right by tea time, her dad informed me.

JR came home, having got TOP Marks at BodyStreet. They did a body scan and readout, which analyses everything. I don’t think they’ve ever seen such a fit, er, older person…

I set off to legally use a couple of buses. Archie and I had a walk through the Gardens, having first stopped at the new portrait of Desmond Tutu. I asked a couple of gardeners why the bridge over the railway to the hill up to the Castle Esplanade was still locked. Apparently there are loose rocks, and nobody wants to take responsibility for them, so they just lock it off. The Radical Road has also been shut for ages because of falling rocks. Public safety is paramount, of course.

In the afternoon, my physio rang. I knew she’d had the meeting with the neurosurgeon today… and she had some good news!

Yes! The neurosurgeon has identified what my ‘sore legs’ problem is. Where the MRI people didn’t spot the problem on the scan, he did! I didn’t understand the whole medical explanation (being somewhat overcome), but she will copy me in to the letter to the doctor. Although surgery is not possible, he reckons that targeted physio WILL bring an improvement. I have waited almost six years for this diagnosis…

The new meals box arrived! But we have chicken and salad that needs using up, so I’m not cooking tonight.

The long-awaited report into ‘Partygate’ has been released. Just the bits that the police allowed, as they’re doing an investigation too. Boris Johnston has not yet resigned in shame. (He has none).
