Potato power

Initial disbelief as to the potential of a potato to light a bulb soon passed when we rigged up a 3-cell potato power station to light an LED on H's electronics board.  We also made a non-magnetic bolt into an electro-magnet that could lift paperclips.  We went on to a 7-cell battery out of old 1d pieces, some plated washers, cardboard and salt solution which lit a traditional torch bulb.  Attempts at making an electric motor not quite so successful as the wire we had was a bit too heavy.
