Another first - head torch to the rescue!

Our electricity went off at 7.30am. Storm
Malik this time. Roads out of the village closed as trees down, mobile signals out, shops shut as their tills didn’t work etc etc. Luckily it was a sunny day so the conservatory was warm, though it did feel like the roof might blow off at any minute. We have a gas hob so could make hot drinks. Luckily EE was working so I had a mobile signal as wifi etc was off. But not knowing how long the electricity would be off meant I had to turn my phone off as there was no way of charging it.

Katy’s Burns Supper was still going ahead as they had wood burners and an Aga. Here is Mr C doing his address to the haggis by head torch. That’s a first. We had a lovely evening with a much-reduced group of only 8 unlike in normal no Covid years when there would be 16. I did the Selkirk grace, Colin D piped in the haggis (on his harmonica), Colin W did the immortal memory which was different and excellent, Colin D did the toast to the lasses and Katy replied. Linda read a poem, both Colins sang and it was such a treat to be out and warm!

The electricity came on at 10pm so our house had warmed up a bit for our return at 11.30.
