A nuthatch on the goat willow tree

I worry when I don't see one of the nuthatches for a while. It had been about a week, and then this one arrived outside my study window, 

I couldn't open the window as it would have immediately flown away to the valley. I just had to take a picture or two through the double-glazed windows. The extra is of the same bird digging with its sharp beak at the underside of old bark on a broken branch, hunting for grubs I presume.
