Not the Savoy

Definitely an emergency blip! I decided to try a new route to Orléans avoiding Paris. I rather regretted this as the journey was slower and rather tedious. We had nothing to eat for dinner and again didn’t want to eat out so decided to go to the local hypermarket. That also was not a great decision for although we found some food we could heat in the microwave at the budget hotel, the place was very busy and with cases so high in France, despite everyone wearing masks, it did not feel very safe. I discovered a hole in my French vocabulary when buying dinner as I did not realise that ris de veau are actually sweetbreads. Nevertheless, they were very tasty in a mushroom sauce with some tabouleh.
