Controlled burning
Now I understand the smoke drifting across the mountainside further up the valley. Yesterday's blip showed the fire fighters' training exercises as they set light to undergrowth. I noticed that it was mostly brambles but there are also invasive non native species that menace the natural habitat of this part of the national park. It also gives the fire fighters practice at stopping the more serious summer fires. This morning I baked bread and then walked on the opposite ridge. We are waiting for the inevitable announcement of the next confinement so I am making the most of walking opportunities. We will either be restricted to an hour's exercise within one kilometre of the house or a three hour window of opportunity further afield. We will almost certainly have to sign attestations when leaving the house which can be checked by the police and contraventions fined €135. That might have been an idea for the UK instead of all the mixed messaging. In the afternoon, I relaxed to a 'breath and release' yoga session.
