Diary of an Edinburgher

Storm Malik!

Got up to watch the tennis final. Well done Ash Barty, though I’d’ve liked to have seen it as a three-setter.

It was really windy this morning- Storm Malik in full force, though we got off lightly again compared to some parts of the country. There was a trampoline flying round, but it got stuck against a pole, thankfully, though not before it damaged a parked car. Honestly, people are stupid. The owners of the trampoline KNEW the storm was coming. They KNOW trampolines are a hazard in high winds. Yet they didn’t dismantle it.

Actually, the wind had died down by mid morning, though a tree is down in the Meadows and in a nearby street. There have been two deaths caused by falling trees, one a nine year old boy.

Elizabeth took Archie out, so we thought we’d walk into town for a coffee. But then we couldn’t be bothered and just went to the local cafe, where we haven’t been for ages. A very nice scone and coffee were consumed.

Hazel texted for us to pop over and see her new painting, so we did. Then she came over for a coffee and a newly baked blueberry muffin. JR made them, as the new neighbours are coming over for a cuppa in the morning. Though I’ve just realised that the men’s tennis final will still be on…

In the afternoon I happened upon an excellent trio of animation films called The House on Netflix. Really enjoyed them, though they are rather endearingly weird. And the warning at the beginning didn’t seem right for a stop motion film with sweet felt models - Language, violence, alcohol misuse, threat!!!

Storm Corrie arriving tomorrow!
