Someone left a cake out in the rain...

Only joking. But it did rain today. Unremittingly. From an hour after I got up until dark. Shopping in the morning to buy a small present for a neighbouring brand new 8 year old, whose real present is languishing somewhere in transit from the US. Regardless, TallGirl (also invited to the party this afternoon) arrived back to grab coats for the outdoor treasure hunt. (When I say it was raining I really mean it. In the 8 yard dash from the party front door to our front door she was so wet she contemplated getting changed, until I pointed out that she was about to go back outside.)

So, no gardening.

Instead, baking. Lots of cookies, biscuits of uncertain success and this fabulous, jaw-droppingly gingery, ginger cake.
