Exotic visitors

I think hoopoes are about to become my favourite bird (but only if these two do make our garden their home!) When I was little I think there must have been a picture of a hoopoe on the front of our bird guide, as I can't otherwise think how I would have become so keen on them. Anyway, I'm delighted to have finally had the chance to observe them at close* quarters.

A long day of work. We have finally managed to install the fence for the new veg garden. It has cost us a whole day, a certain amount of cash, several sore fingers, a sore hip and quite possibly our marriage...**

An otherwise uneventful day.

* Not close enough for my ropey 18-200 lens, obviously.
