St Pancras Old Church

A lovely old church just north of St Pancras railway station. It is reputed to be one of the oldest churches in London but what we see today is largely mid-19th century. The old tower on the west (left hand) end was demolished, so that the church could be extended, and rebuilt on the south (nearest) side.

I was there because I am still following the route of the River Fleet. Behind where I was standing is the main road from Kentish Town to Kings Cross.  In the extra I have put an engraved image from 1827 taken from a similar direction but further away. You can see a stage coach on the road that was behind me and the River Fleet flowing on the other side of the road with people swimming. There is a housing estate there now and the river is in a deep tunnel.
