In The Sticks

The snow crunched underfoot as I walked to the marsh. Nobody about due to the cold. Although bright today, the marsh was shaded by trees. A few shafts of light gave form to some strange snow mounds I have not seen here before. The old wildflower stalks standing out against the white(ish) snow give my image an interesting pattern.

Actually it took a large adjustment to white balance to get this far and I'm not sure it's white enough yet. I felt that in shade, the snow might well take on a blue cast. I'm finding that editing snow scenes requires subtle handling to bring out the contrasts in such a narrow range. A bit like clouds I suppose.
