Forest Walk
We hadn't had an outing since the start of the huge Omicron surge drove us back indoors, so it was lovely to get out into the forest today. It's a Forestry Commission area, planted with rows of conifers and partly with deciduous trees, many of which have been coppiced. There are quite wide breaks between the planting and a greater variety of undergrowth and flowering plants than are found in some conifer plantations, though nothing seems to be flowering at present. We saw lots of golden brown bracken, a wide variety of seed heads, and a huge amount of very green moss, so there was quite a lot of colour despite the high cloud giving very flat, grey light. There is a surfaced path, long and straight so not visually very interesting, but good for J's wheelchair even in otherwise muddy conditions. Family walks don't really allow for the kind of detailed photos I enjoy looking for, but I took my trusty compact and enjoyed the opportunity to photograph something beyond my garden and view.
