Tibouchina

The street always has a great display of purple flowers when the Tibouchina are in bloom. The sun wasn't out when I took the photo but they are starting to shed their petals so thought I would not wait for another day
.Tibouchina are a native of South America and they do well in Australia as they have apparently have no pest although they don't like frost.
