Out For the Day

Rain early, now snow, high 42 deg F, low expected to be 22 deg F. Got up early, had breakfast and headed south to pick up my mother. We went to the pharmacy to get her second Shingles shot, shopped for groceries and went back to my house to await hubby. He has had gastric issues for almost two weeks so he agreed to go to the doctor. Preliminary diagnosis is an intestinal infection. They gave him antibiotics and sent him for blood tests. He is not allowed to eat beef or pork until at least his next appointment with the doc. If the meds don’t heal him, they will do a CT scan. The doctor said there is way too much COVID at the hospital so he only wants the scan if necessary. We had 180 new cases of COVID in the last 24 hours. Never a dull moment. We took Momma to a mom and pop restaurant that we all like. Parker works there in the summer. Hubby and Momma had a chicken dish; I had a Philly Cheesesteak. We could tell Momma wasn’t ready to go home so we took her for dessert, tiny ice cream servings at our fav, DQ. By the time we got her home, it was snowing. Since it was so warm earlier, the snow is not sticking. They are predicting less than an inch accumulation even though it will snow for over four hours. We put away all the groceries, chatted a bit and her arm was already swelling from the vaccine. Hopefully, she will take our advice and put ice on it. We went to the base to get my meds. We know how lonely Momma gets, so we plan to take her with us when we go to VA in a few weeks to scope out a campground. My sister will join us. It is definitely nap time. My DIL sent hubby soup for dinner made with ground turkey. Don’t think I will need more food today. Thanks for dropping by. Stay safe folks. “Love your parents and treat them with loving care for you will only know their value when you see their empty chair”. - Unknown
