Did Someone Say Cookies?
Overcast with a high of 42 deg F and predicted low of 30 deg F. We are under a gale warning with wind gusts up to 60 mph. Guess this is part of winter storm Izzy. We may get a little more snow later. We woke up early, probably due to the wind noise. Hubby had morning PT. I cleaned our linen closets and my cedar chest. Feels good to get those type of jobs done. To give you a hint on my foolishness: I found a blanket in my cedar chest that our kitty Snuggles (who passed 15 yrs ago) slept on, still covered in his fur. He died tragically on my sister’s 50th birthday. We were so overwrought at the time that I folded his blanket and zipped it in a storage bag. It was in the bottom of my cedar chest. It is washed and in the dryer. We had lunch and then put all the boxes back in our attic. Hubby and I took down the window wreaths and he vacuumed up the mess. We did a load of laundry and I separated all these tins to give back to the rightful owners. There are tins inside of tins on this table. My girls and I make Christmas cookies to give as gifts to several folks, especially those who no longer bake for themselves. Kristen makes one additional type of cookie each year to commemorate Skylar’s birthday; she is up to 17 kinds now. This year she made everyone Grinch brownies to honor Sky’s performance at the Christmas tree lighting. Kim and I have a set list based on people’s favorites. I made 9 types, two of which are mini cheesecakes and have to go in a different tin so they won’t get the others soggy. If time permits, we try something new. Grammy’s house is the central distribution hub. Everyone returns their empty tins to me and I get them back to my daughters. Hubby and I are both ready to collapse on the recliners, so many trips up and down steps. We’ll have salad to go with our pasta dinner but we are basically finished for the day. Hope you did not sustain any damage in recent storms. Only 171 new COVID cases here in the last 24 hours but the satellite testing centers were probably closed because of our storm. Stay safe. Thanks for visiting. “I just figured if I was going to make the world a better place I’d do it with cookies.” - Ana Pascal, “Stranger Then Fiction”
