Green Tea

Today's image is one of our old teapots which has been left outside our back door for several years - it has a large crack in it so could no longer hold tea and hence it has been put out to pasture!
This shot is also a bit of excuse to tell the story of one of our local tourist attractions - Teapot Island.
Teapot Island is a teapot museum (with cafe attached) that grew from the personal teapot collection of owner Sue Blazye (great name!), which started when her grandmother gave her a teapot in 1983, encouraging other family members to do the same.
The growth of the collection eventually led to needing a larger space to house her collection so she established Teapot Island in Yalding in 2002 on the site of a riverside diner which had been in operation since the 1950's.
The museum was actually featured in the Guinness Book of Records for being the largest collection of teapots in the world from 2004 until 2011, when it was awarded to a man in China with 30,000 teapots.
The museum also managed to garner a review in the book "Crap Days Out" in which the authors stated "It's awful if you don't like teapots, but it's probably alright if you do"!
Coincidentally we also have a street around the corner called Teapot Lane. One of my mum's friends lives on Teapot Lane and she can remember it was just a small country lane that led to our local railway station, until the M20 motorway arrived and split in half in 1971.
I think maybe that's enough teapot related news for now! :-)
