Team building

I’m reading Jane Harper at the moment. She has great skill in creating remote Australian settings. This novel is about a group of executives on a team building exercise in the remote Victorian bush. It’s wet and cold and scary and of course, this being Jane Harper, bad things start to happen.
In our years as consultants we often worked with teams of executives. We never suggested that they should plunge through the wet bush or jump off cliffs or immerse themselves in icy water. We rather thought that the best way to build teams was to work constructively together on big issues.
I wonder whether we would be faring any better with Covid if the Prime Minister and State Premiers had spent some time team building in the bush?
