Lost in the Borders
Another beautiful day, so we were up an off for a jaunt to the Borders. I have admired many a blip of a winter tree in lovely fields with fluffy clouds. I was determined to find one. Of course, this meant tramping across muddy fields... Did I bring my wellies? No I did not.
We called in to the Flat Cat in Lauder for our customary cake, coffee, browse and toilet stop. We then had a wee tootle around side roads, all the better to stop and climb into fields. Got a wee bit lost, but of course you don't - you eventually come out at somewhere you recognise.
Lots of wee lambs around, still quite a bit of snow, too. We came in a different way to St Bothwell's and happened upon the Book Shop, of which we had read but never been. What a great place - It's now replaced the FC as the pit stop of choice. What cakes! Big scones! And VERY nice meals going out. AND no muzak. So that was a good idea, getting lost!
I popped in to the hospital with a few things for Uncle A. He has requested a book and his reading glasses. He's a lot better today. They've taken him off those drugs that were disturbing him the whole ward every night! He was in a short sleeved shirt, and I saw his arm!! What a sight. It's about twice the normal size, and black and blue and yellow. Wow!
On the bus home I played my new game of closing my eyes for most of the trip, and working out where I am from the cornering. This is risky. Not only because I might well go past my stop, but also because I might well nod off! Funny how I can nod off sitting on a bus, or watching a TV programme I really want to see, or reading a book I really want to read, but when I lie down, horizontal, in bed... I'm wide awake.
Home to do a quick blip. This has taken me ages, as lots of the photos had smudges on them - the lens is quite clean, but it may just have been the way the sun caught it.
The neighbours are coming for tea/supper/dinner a meal. Chicken tagine and lemon cous cous, I am told - just in case you think I exist on scones and cakes...
