Tim and the Speedboat

Today's the day ....................... for a slideshow

It all started on Wednesday evening when we zoomed in to a lecture hosted by the Kirkcudbright History Society all about 'The Murrays of Broughton, their architects, Cally House and Gardens'.

It was a enjoyable talk by Nic Coombey, who was very knowledgeable on the subject.  But the main thing that came out of it for us, was a reminder that in 1997, my parents celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary at Cally Palace (as it became) and the whole family was invited to join them for the weekend.  As you might imagine, we all had a wonderful time.  We knew that there were slides in the collection here, taken on that weekend and today we had a little slideshow to bring back the memories.

Of course, once you start, those memories just keep coming!  Suffice to say, it was a very pleasant way to start the weekend over a glass of wine.  The first extra is some of the party enjoying a snack in one of the ornate lounges of Cally Palace and the second is son Rob with a couple of the rainbow trout that he caught in the fishing loch in the grounds.

But above, I can't resist a shot not taken at Cally, but around the same time, of other son Tim looking very pleased with himself at the wheel of a speedboat on Lake Windermere .....................
