Now, as I see it......

Eye, eye....

A much better day today; bright and sunny, so W and I drove over to Pensthorpe for a walk.  The last time we were there was at the end of August when it was very hot and busy but as expected, it was a lot quieter today.  Not so many birds as during the summer but still plenty to see, including this duck doing her best to keep her beak warm.  The Crane chicks in my blip on 31st May have really grown up and the flamingos were getting back to their usual pink after looking a bit pale in the summer; we reckon they must have been indulging themselves with prawns.  I've added a couple of extras; the flamingos, and another duck which was standing so still that at first we thought it was one of the many sculptures they have around the park.

The red squirrels they have been breeding at Pensthorpe have all gone.  They were being bred for reintroduction into the wild and apparently the programme has been so successful that it is no longer required.  It was sad that there weren't any to see but at the same time, last time we saw them they were showing all the signs of animals bored in captivity, running up and down the same spot over and over again, so we were actually quite pleased.
