Comfort and Joy

It is testament as to how much has been going on around here, that I have only just got round to blipping our new furniture. It is supremely comfortable and brings us great joy!
But we’ve been a long time getting to this stage. In early 2019 we thought that the work on the house would be finished by June so we decided to order new furniture for the lounge. We chose a nice leather corner unit with two recliners and a delivery date at the end of June - perfect. Or so we thought. With the delivery date only a week or so away, no work whatsoever had been done to the house, nor did it seem likely anything would be done any time soon. But we were committed to the new unit so had to get rid of our old - but very comfortable - settee and chair. Within an hour of putting it on the Sell and Seek site it had gone and we were on the garden furniture for a couple of weeks.
When the new unit did arrive, we found out we had probably made a very expensive mistake as it was not at all comfortable to sit on. But we couldn’t justify spending any more money at that stage and, as we still didn’t know when work would start on the house, decided we would just have to put up with it.
Two years down the line, work had finally commenced and the unit was now sufficiently old enough that we could almost justify replacing it with something else. A visit to Stollers in Barrow to look at a light for the bedroom, ended up with us putting in an order for two Stressless recliners and a matching settee. Despite the fact that it would have to be a special order from the factory to get everything to match, they still honoured the price promotion that was on at the time - excellent service. We knew we would have to wait until about November but took the decision to sell the existing unit before the decorators and carpet fitters started, so as to make life a bit easier for them.
Thought we might only have to put up with sitting on garden furniture again for a month or so, but that turned into eight weeks with all the delays that have been well chronicled in this journal over the past few months!
But all is right with the world now. It’s just a shame I’ve not really had a chance to fully appreciate it because I’ve been out every night doing pantomime!
