Last year I was the happy recipient of a huge pile of logs. I had glibly said yes, to receiving them.  I had second thoughts when I saw the size of them.

However I have worked out ways of breaking them down in to a manageable size.  Behind you see  the pile that is being prepared for next winter. They will spend the summer months in my wood shed so that they will be nice and dry.
