Friday Treats
My cousin A who lives in Airdrie was coming through to visit Uncle A today, so I was free to go to the afternoon movies. It was good that it wasn't a sunny day, because that's always hard. Doesn't stop me, but I have to think twice...
Went to see 'In the House' a French movie with Kirsten Scott Thomas. I've never seen her in a movie I didn't like, and this was no exception. It was a great story. French movies do interior scenes really well - the sounds, the decor, and the language sounds so nice. Really enjoyed it.
From there we wandered down to the Caledonian for a glass of wine, it being Friday. We walked into the bar, which had rather loud drumming muzak on. Nobody in, just a couple of bar people and loud drumming muzak. We walked right on through to the large foyer/lounge bit, which is really nice.
Lots of groups in enjoying afternoon tea. There were three ladies sitting nearby, and I took a photo for them on their phone. As I got up to leave I asked if I could take a photo, but by this time the beautiful afternoon tea was more or less demolished, and the empty crumby plates on the three tier cake stand didn't look as good as when it came out.
So I blipped our wine. And very reasonable it was too, with excellent complimentary nibbles - olives, crunchy sweet chili rice biscuits and sundried tomatoes. Cheap at twice the price, thinking of our experience in Gleneagles decades ago, when we go NO nibbles and the wine was £10 a glass. (You can see this still rankles).
I met cousin A at Uncle A's house and a trolley thing was delivered. Occupational Therapy are coming to the flat on Monday to set up things he needs, so he might be out on Monday afternoon.
Back home. Fish and chips for tea and a catch up on all the programmes missed last week - The Boss, The Good Wife, Parks and Recreation...
Perhaps another wine...
